Boys are So Cute

The kids have runny noses this week. Emma's a faucet and the skin under her nose and her right cheek is bright red from wiping it so much and she leaves wads of tissue all over the house (Andrew's delighted at the extra toys on the floor). Weston, well Weston's my boy and he found a better solution- just plug the leak. "Gross you say? Hey, notice my face isn't all red."

Dr. Emma on Normal

Yesterday I heard Emma being bossy, so I went into the room and caught the end of her lecture...
Emma: "...then Mommy would get Weston in time out."
Mom: "For what?"
Emma (with great irritation): "He's making me normal!"

Dr. Emma on More Bums

Emma has a keen sense of smell (she does have pretty big nostrils). She can always detect what foods I'm trying to sneak and when I've been cleaning. The other day I was chewing a piece of Winterfresh gum and she started sniffing...
"Mom, you smell like bum...uh, gum"

Here's another conversation we had when our friend was over.
Cole: "Why does Andrew have a bum?'
Me (laughin): "Well, why do you have a bum?"
Cole: "I do have a bum, it's right here."
Emma: "He has a bum because he needs to poop."

My Little Jamies

I was looking through some old Steed pictures and found some familiar faces. This is another reason to marry a man you like to look at, because you might find yourself surrounded by his clones.

The last of the 3 pics here is Jamie the other two are his clone Weston.
Sorry, I spent a lot of time trying to line these in a row but finally gave up

On the top is Andrew's Grandpa Steed, the middle is Andrew, and Andrew's dad on the right

Here's Baby Emma. It's weird to look back at her pictures now because to me it looks like Andrew with a dress and a bow

Dr. Emma on Brothers

Emma: "That boy at church said he wanted to play with his Smash Brothers, I don't have that, I just have sweet brothers, because girls have sweet brothers."

Dr. Emma on Where Birds get their Eggs

We have a robin who built her nest on the drain pipe off our balcony (poor thing had no idea what she was getting herself into I'm sure). Emma and I went outside to check on "Mama Bird" and didn't see her in her nest...
Emma: "I think she went to the store to get some eggs."

Weston's Alphabet

Weston loves the Alphabet! Thanks for the puzzle Grandma, it has gotten lots of use!

Sorry for all the background noise, we're in the basement with the bikers and Kobie's sweeping/vacuuming (yeah Kobie, you're welcome to come to my house any time).

Dr. Emma on Moms

Sorry I haven't posted in FOREVER! Our internet was down and we had to dump AT&T. We've known for a while now that the relationship wasn't going anywhere and so we've decided to see other people. So I'll post a few things now to make it up to you.

Emma's started calling me "mudder" lately, so today I asked her why she calls me that (I used to be "mommy" or "mom").
Emma: "Because you're just mom and you're cute."

This is why I keep her around, despite her girly drama.

Ponderings #1

"Yeah huh! Mormons are too Christians!"

Much has been said over the past few months on both sides about whether or not Mormons are Christians. And although the debate seems to me a bit childish sometimes, it is an important one. LDS leaders have repeatedly encouraged church members to speak up and to assert their belief in Christ and His role in Heavenly Father's plan for us. Just yesterday during General Conference we were told that we should not let others define our beliefs for us.

A couple of months ago, I was pondering this topic during a Sunday School lesson that I should have been paying attention to. Instead, I wrote the following thoughts on the matter in my Sunday Journal:

It is strange to me when individuals who know little or nothing about my character, let alone my personal relationship with the Savior, presume to know whether or not I am a Christian. What mortal man, unacquainted with my heart and mind, could ever adequately pass such a judgment? I hope and believe that those who personally know me consider me a Christian. I hope they see and feel that. One thing is certain - unlike mortal man with his prejudice and ignorance, Jesus Christ Himself knows whether or not I am a Christian.

You know you're in Georgia if...

This was one ad we got in the mail. I think it's great that people are more religious around here, but some of the ads and things I see are just...well, not what I'm used to.
Sorry it's kind of hard to see.
Let's see, 401k's, was that part of the Sermon on the mount

Dr. Emma on Heeding

Emma- "Mom, did you know that God said read the Book of Mormon?"
Mom- "Yes that's something he's told us to do huh?'
Emma- "He just said that to me. He said it really quietly, but I heard him."

Dr. Emma on the April Ensign

Emma likes to make up her own stories from pictures. Test your fluency in "Emma-speak."

By the way, she calls Pres. Uchtdorf President German and she remembers President Eyring because he wears "eye-rings" (ha).

Weston's Stupid Human Trick

Weston had a stuffy nose yesterday and discovered he could make this charming noise. It was cracking me up but maybe that's just because I'm his mother.
